What is the tone indicator doing up there? I've never seen it there!

if that's a theme made with TCP then the theme either has a midi included or the person has a random feature on (like on most themes made with TCP have different signal strengths and others don't have a GPRS reception and others do).

i think that's just an icon that he made up. i just looked all through my manual and that small icon doesn't exist.

it's the IR port notification. small lines (dots) around the half-globe indicate the IR is on, longer lines indicate IR communication is in progress.

ok, now i've got my brain in gear my best guess is that it's a theme specific icon to indicate silent mode off, or it's the silent mode icon not displaying correctly due to a fault in the theme.
