I'd not get too excited about it. It's easy enough for someone to say that something's possible. But where's the proof?

While I am sure it has not been done on

phones yet I am sure it could be possible by someone who had the time and energy and knowledge.
I have seen a web site dedicated to this in some older phones from other manufacturers where they even add whole new functions and it has been mentioned here on Esato at least once before (I vaguely recall Cytech mentioning it when this topic came up before)
I'll see if I can find some links.
Needles to say I wouldn't risk it in my phone, which is strange because when I get a new pc with a DVD player or writer the first thing I do is go to an excellent firmware site and download the RPC-1 (multiregion) firmware for the drive.

offtopic:
rpc-1 is where only software controls the region coding of a drive whereas rpc-2 which has been implemented in all drives since 1 jan 2000 has the region controlled in the firmware of the drive. rpc-2 can be overcome by a firmware update or by some clever software
please PM me or continue in the following topic in which I have also have some replies
Region free DVD player on your PC?
