Weird stuff this morning, I plug in my P900 in my docking station, phone switches off and on again, once I entered pin I see a message below pop up saying "Your phone was restarted in order to improve performance" ! Never had it before.
Is this a P900 'feature' or SMan? (which is always running)

no its the equivlent of a TOD
when the phone f**ks up it restarts and displays that message its in the instruction mannual
but common sense would be enough to conclude this any way.

With my P800 I had a few times a simular thing on the screen. Big triangle and I had to press the on switch for more then 10 sec. I think that is some kind of soft reset mayby.

I think the phone simply crashed. I don't think you can attribute it entirely to low signal strength. I had that issue with my P800, however, I have not run into it with my P900 in the same low signal areas. I have had the P900 completely isolated from any signal for 10 hours of the day and it has not crashed. I do think some apps are killing the memory and has caused it to stall. There's some extensive info written by a developer on this on the dev site. Close the progies like SMAN for the mean time. However, you also may not be able to reproduce your problem to pin point what caused the crash.

I got the same message the other day I figured it may be similar to the Triangle of Death in p800 but not quite sure. I was playing solitaire while I got it.
