and their techs are clueless. Sprint phones get there. AT&T phones get there. VS does not. They still have the gall to ask stupid questions like: Are you sure its a WAP site? Is a firewall blocking access?

I have been doing a little research here on Esato and have comes accross two things that might help me here cuz it doesn't look like VS is going to be any help.

Questions:
1) What are APNs and where do they fit in this picture. VS says that they only have one. Posts here seem to contradict that statement. Do you get to use different APNs depending on your plan? Does changing the APN make sense for this problem?

2) What are public WAP gateways? Will they help me? What are the pros and cons of using them?

Thanks,
Diego

Don't particularly know why you are having difficulty other than VS may not support "new generation" wap sites. But, here are some insights into your questions:

1. The name of the Access Point Note (APN), a kind of router within the GPRS network that connects the wireless part of the mobile network to the WAP gateway or the Internet is specific to the carrier. VS has two such APN's; one for WAP access, one for data (i.e. TCP/IP) access.

2. Public WAP gateways are just that. They can be accessed through a TCP/IP connection through your ISP. This is helpful for bypassing the service providers WAP site. You usually need to establish a dial-up connection to the ISP and make the public WAP gateway the home page. There are other implementations, for sure and this is just a brief overview.

Hope it helps.
