Hopefully this is a simple question but why is it different phones offer different lengths of text's.
For e.g. my old panasonic could handle near 300 caracters where as the z600 is half that.

but then again the z600 does support 'long messages' (multiple messages pasted in one) if you switch the option on, right?

i think its the service providers. the t610 can handle more than 160 but it goes into a 2nd sms as sp charges are based on a 160 character message as been 1 sms if you send 161 you are charged for 2 sms.
alot of phones do the descent thing and let you know when you have reached this limit so you dont get charged twice
hope this helps

Turn Long Messages on. It will then support concateneted SMS, i.e. up to at least 6 connected messages (6x160 characters).

I've not changed providers and I know it has the feature for extended SMS's but that then goes onto another text whereas the panasonic didn't it sent it as one?!?

since SMS can only be 160 characters per message my guess is the panasonic must have broken it up without giving you an indication it was doing that.

The Z600 can handle 10 pages of 160 characters. So in uk. You will pay £1 for all 10 pages at 10p per page
