> Did anyone use the T630's "My Friends"?

No more "My Shortcuts" icon..... So how's "My Friends"? is it actually usefull? Is it just another way to start a chat? Is it usable in all networks, or do you have to apply to a certain service? I'm guessing you'd have to know other people who have a T630 to make use of the My Friends function. I searched the forum on the topic, but all I can see is more people asking the same question and no answers! If anyone used this, please let us know!

It is a future for letting you see if your contacts have their phone on or off. Just like in messenger and they can also turn it to bussy and you can see that they are bussy before spending money on forexampel a sms. I think this future must be enabled by the service provider and your buddy must also have a phone with that future.

Here's what's mentioned in the SE T630 User Guide R1a about "My Friends":
My friends
The My Friends function gives you more options when messsaging. You can create a list of favorite contacts from your phonebook. You can then quickly access your favorite contacts and choose how* you want to communicate with them. If your subscription supports instant messaging services, you can see which of your contacts are on-line and what mood they are in. You can also send and receive messages and join community chats. Please contact your network operator for information about My Friends configuration settings**.
To log in to your My friends server
Scroll to My Friends, Myself,
Log in.
*Why didn't they mention what options of communicating you have under this feature? Eg. SMS, MMS, Voice etc..
**How many of us are sick of going to the network operator just to find out that they don't anything know about a feature in our phone which the phone manufacturer asked you to go to them and ask about? Wow that's a long sentence
My bet is that this is the first step. If this service has to be supported by the network operator, and you have to use it with people who also have this feature, SE must be planing on including "My Friends" in most of their new phones. Because it only makes sence this way.
The T630 is not going to be very popular, cause the T610 and Z600 have already been around for some time, and are much cheaper now. Not so many people will own a T630, thus not so many people will have the "My Friends" feature.
Could this drive SE into making a firmware upgrade for T610s and Z600s to include "My Friends" in these older phones? What do you guys think?
I personaly am interested in the T630. It's a good upgrade from my T68i.. But god, there always has to be a feature or two that are either available and annoying
or important and missing!
I doubt I'd use the "My Friends" menu. I think the "My Shortcuts" feature was more important. SE could've solved this if the joystick could be customized to operate different features according to which direction you pressed (sound like a Nokia?).
God knows if newer SE phones will have "My Friends" or not

Don't know about other manufacturers but I read somewhere that 6230 will be the first Nokia phone which has Wireless Village... But the first phone (in the world) which has this service is the T630...

iyiinsan, I think you're right. I think the 6230 will also have Wireless Village, although it wasn't clearly mentioned.
This is what Nokia's site says about some of the 6230's features:
Presence
Chat (Instant Messaging )
Presence-enhanced contacts
Sounds about the same to me...
Someone tell us the results of using My Friends!
PS (Off topic) Is it me, or is Nokia copying the 6230's design from SE's T630

Yeah i think they're copying too. But i wouldn, mind SE adding some of the 6230's features in future phones. More phones with wireless village is the only way for it to become popular, so It's a good thing nokia is using it too.
