Hi all. Just purchased a P900 and struggling to get it to sync with my mac. I've managed to pair the mac and the phone, so they do see each other, through the steps I've seen on here with HotSync manager and ISync 1.3. However, within the Bluetooth System preferences settings, it greys out the 'sync contacts and calendar' option and only offers 'connect to the internet'. When I try to sync, Isync just continually holds in 'connecting to P900' while the phone comes to life with its bluetooth light flashing away faster than normal. Then after quite a while it just finishes with the message that it couldn't connect to the phone, nor sync.

If anyone else has experienced this with OS Jaguar and solved it, as I see most of the previous posts suggest upgrading to Panther, I'd be grateful for your guidance.

Kind regards

P

Have you got the latest version of iSync and Bluetooth? My Nokia 7650 never synced calendars before with 10.2.x and these options were greyed out as you described with your P900 but with the latest iSync release and the updated Bluetooth software my phone synced.

I'm now on 10.3.2 with a P900 and that syncs fine too.

I'm only syncing between .Mac, the Mac itself and the P900. You mentioned Hotsync so are you using a Palm too?

Cheers,

David.

Hi David

Thanks for the swift response.

I am on the latest ISync, and the latest bluetooth for Jaguar - 1.3.3 - the only reason I mentioned HotSync was that I was trying every conceivable option having scoured the forums today.

I'm hesitant to upgrade to Panther if it can be solved in Jaguar.

Cheers

Hi phailey, sorry then, I never tried my P900 with Jaguar, I only had my 7650 then. I can say that the P900 is fine with Panther but that's not much help to you.

It's a long shot but have you checked the 'Support non-conforming phones' option in Bluetooth prefs? Can you exchange files with the P900 via Bluetooth?

Cheers,

David.

I had simillar problem in Panther. I think, that it is iSync issue, because you have the same version of iSync like in Panther (1.3). This is strange problem, because on the same configuration I hadn't any problems wit P800. But behavior with P900 is different. Try this one:
1. Open iSync and from Device menu select Add Device command and select your P900.
2. Now again in Device menu select Reset all Devices command and in next window set it to replace all data in devices with data from the computer (however, you will loose all contact and calendar items in your phone).
3. Sync (you may be will have to try it one more times and it should take long time).
It should work. You must also notice when you click to your P900 icon in iSync that the checkbox and text Turn on P900 synchronization is black (not gray) and you can check/uncheck this checkbox (what's impossible before).

I have to mention, that I have the latest P900 firmware. You can do upgrade yourself but you will ned PC Windows computer for it. Find more informations on www.sonyericsson.com on global support pages in P900 section.

I have my P900 working with 10.3.2 and iSync. Check that the version of iSync you're using supports the P900. Also, I think you can only iSync with one phone (I had to remove my 68i before adding the P900).

I found that it helps to set 'Allow to connect without confirmation' in the P900 bluetooth settings.

If all else fails, try a complete unpairing (unpair on Mac, delete the mac in the P900, delete the p900 from iSync) and then start again. I had to do this after a software restore.

Good luck
