Dear All,

After searching through many forums, I have been unable to successfully connect my P900 to the Internet via Bluetooth.

This is my setup:
Desktop running Windows xp Professional
SonyEricsson P900
Opera Browser
D-Link Bluetooth Dongle
WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software

I have been able to successfully establish a Serial Connection over Bluetooth connecting my PC, which I am told is what I must do. On opening the Opera Browser, however, the phone asks me for a method of connection (which currently is only through Vodafone GPRS/Web or GPRS/WAP). Therefore, it seems the serial connection is not being picked up by Opera. However, when I use my docking station, Opera detects this connection and I am able to surf through my ADSL connection (not much use on the station..)

Basically, if anyone can give me a detailed description as to how I'm to connect to my ADSL Internet via Bluetooth, I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks in advance!

with your serial connection can you sync or view the directory of the P900?

I'm not too sure what you are asking me there. Basically, I can see that the device has a Serial Connection active and the widcomm software shows my P900 Device name on connection, but that's about it. I don't actually know how to remotely synchronise via Bluetooth.

Please confirm:

1. Your PC as a device appears in the list of paired devices on the P900 (Control Panel/Connections/Bluetooth)
2. You have selected the option "Allow to connect without confirmation" on the P900 for the paired/bonded PC device.

Dear Jah,

My answer is Yes to both questions:

1) My PC appears on my P900 as a list of devices
2) I have both the PC and P900 to allow connections to proceed without authorisation

I have also jeroen's guide, and apart from the differences in dongle and software (his is MSI, mine is D-Link), the main problem I encounter is this:

Once I establish a serial connection, both devices confirm it is active. However, when I look at the status of "My Bluetooth Serial Port" (My Bluetooth Places\My Device), although the device icon shows it is active (and on double-clicking it says it is connected with "good" signal), there is no transmission of data on either side. That is to say, no bytes have been sent of received via the bluetooth serial connection - and after a few seconds, the connection disconnects.

It should work with the serial connection open, but have you got the phone connection monitor (sony software) open? I am not sure if it is needed, but that is the only difference I can see between your setup and mine.

Try running the "My P900" software and transfering a file over bluetooth first, just to check teh connection is working fine then try opera. Thats all I can suggest.

I think you are on the right track.

If there really is a connection then the PC Link icon (on the task bar) should show an animated connection. If not then the COM port for the BT connection needs to be enabled via Control Panel/Phone Monitor (you can establish which COM port it is by looking at the Properties of the PC Link).

Look here at a good collection of previous posts on this subject for more detailed instructions:

millec199 and Jah,

Thanks for sticking with me on this one - what I want to ask is what is this phone connection monitor software? It's not present on my control panel list, so I suppose I have to install it?

In answering you're question millec, I am able to transfer files via bluetooth (but not via the bluetooth serial connection) so I am sure the PC-P900 connection is there in one way or another.

I hope you can help me further.

When I installed PC Suite I found I had an icon called "Phone Monitor Options" in my control panel. Which version of PC Suite did you install on your PC? I recommend the latest version Ver 2.1.1.
