> HELP!! p800 as modem through ir

hi.. i am trying to use my p800 as a modem for my laptop tru ir... i switched the pc connect to modem and den it communicated with my laptop.. den i started up the dial up networkinh wizzard.. and i created a new modem.. den i chose gprs and clicked next.. it then showed three choices cable ir bt and all three showed no modem detected.. anyone knows how to solve this.. and must i hav a special gprs account for it? thanks

just use the default ir modem (Standard Ir Phone Modem or something like that) not P800 IR modem when creating new connection.

tried using standard modem but still dosent work.. when setting it up, i hav to enter a dial up number but i am trying to use gprs so i sould not put a dial up number rite? anyway is there a way to use the ericsson dial networking wizzard??

the wizzard had no use,never worked for me! If u connect using internet GPRS account (not wap) u still need to dial a number(mine is *99#),get it from your provider! Also you must disable on pc com ports and ir for pc suite connection before trying to connect to modem.Also when the modem is detected go to properties and put extra initialization commands,also from your provider.Is not easy but is worth it when you are travelling!

you have to disable all,just untick the boxes with com ports and ir to be able to use as a modem.Extra init.com. must be entered in modem properties,they are somewhere,just look for it! I use this: at+cgdcont=1,"ip","internet" ,you must replace internet with your internet gprs apn! Hope it works.

Hey! Thanks mate!! got it to work.. jux to help those who may expierence the problem.. i will explain wad i did.
1st add a modem and click do not use the search i will select it frm a list then go to the sony ericsson folder and click on the p800 modem through ir. click add and choose connection between phone and pc or laptop. pick ir and done. a new modem will be added. next disable the ir on the phone connection link. then go to internet options. click on the connection tab and u will see the connections which u may connect to. click add connection and add ur put a new connection name. select the modem p800 that u juz created. and get a number frm ur service provider to put as the telephone number. den juz turn ur phone to modem mode and ur done!!
