Hi all,

I'm a new member of this forum, this is my second post:

I own both P800 and P900, I also own 3 mobile accounts in Italy, two with VODAFONE, and one with TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile).

I noticed that (it happen on both P800 & P900 units)when I receive SMS:

A: If the Vodafone SIM are in the phones, the SMS received are written in the phone memory, and I have the envelope icon.

B: If the TIM SIM are inserted the SMS received are written in the SIM memory (I have the SIM icon near each message).

In the B case, the SIM will be full after 20 SMS, and I have to manually copy each message on the phone memory using the appropriate menu.

Does anyone else in Europe is experiencing this behaviour?

Is there a way to tell the phone operating system to force the writing of tha SMS on the phone rather than on the SIM card?

Is this behaviour SIM dependant, and cannot be changed?

Thank you in advance for all the help and comments. I would also like to know if I'm the one to have this problem.

@sbr164, HELLO & WELLCOME

I can offer my view on this, i used both P8/P9 in UK & i am sure the phones will recieve sms on the "Phone" memory as a default, as this is the normal way & can make use of the large storage capacity on the phone, i uuse many sims in P8/P9 & all go to phone memory, i think its a network thing that one of your sims recieves sms on sim memory.
Ask them if they do a sim with extended sms capacity (500 is sometimes possible).

E' un comune problema della TIM.. lo faceva anche col T68i.
Passando alla 64k dovrebbe risolversi... anche io ne soffro..

It's a normal problem with TIM. Also with T68i there was the same problem.
Changing the SIM to a 64kb model the problem must be solved.
Also i had the same problem.

HELP!!!!

I changed the SIM cards, (both) with the latest 128Kb available from TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile), but I still receive the SMS on the SIM rather than on the phone.

This was the last chance...

I'm very sad about this....

Is not a real big hassle really, becouse I can manually move the SMS on the phone, the problem is that if you store a lot of SMS on the phone, the Symbian OS put first the messages on the phone and at the end the messages on sim, this indipendently from the order you want to put in the setup.

I really now wondering if there is any service bit to modify somewhere to change the way the SIM handle the messages... or it is the phone????

Is anybody else using a P800 and a TIM 128Kb sim having this problem.

I wanna the messages on the phone automatically!

What you think? Do have I to change the provider???

I was going today to change my sim also to a 128k
But if nothing happens...
128 sim must be "configurable" try to find something in configuration.

why not ask the network provider to test your unit with their working 128k sim card before upgrading or changing your sim then do the necessary tests tnx

to Rekcah:

Hi, hear this...

you know the problem, right?

Ok something new...

all the delivery confirmation (that arrive to the p800/900 as an sms) are stored in the phone memory!!!!!

more:

If I receive SMS not from a mobile but from the web or a fixed line, it goes into the phone memory.

only SMS coming from mobiles are automatically placed on the TIM sim (128kb)...

I start to think that there must me something in the message that acts together with the sim to decide the repository for the message, phone or sim.

what you think?
