Hey all,
I use my 5mx like it's my 3rd arm. I like word, the spell check and the theasaurus (but im sure i've see this
available on the p900)
Esp the calender - i like the way
you can see week view and see whats *written* in each day.
But i've seen this product and tempted to get a p900:

Do any psion owners have any thoughts on the Pxx after getting one, good points, bad, features they miss, etc. Im hoping to make the cross over.
Thanx alot!
M.

Just to clarify, I'm assuming you only want to compare the organiser functions between the two because the 5mx has no built in phone capabilities and is monochrome (and of course Psion no longer manufacture their products any more AFAIK).

Hello masseur,
Oh yes, may seem confusing i do see. Well, currently i carry a phone and the 5mx. Though it's mainly the PIM functions. Im in love with the calender interface of the psion range, though i want to carry one decivice rather than my brick 5mx and banna phone
Its just for anyone with any experience of working with both and there views.
Thanx for the reply!

Very difficult to compare.
I previously had all the Psion range & after over a year using P800/P900 I still miss my Revo (never liked 5 series as I thought screen was just to crap).
The built in PIM stuff & Word/Sheet/Calc all better on Psions but no phone or multimedia stuff & internet with Opera is great on P800/P900.
Multitasking functionality on Psions is better because on P800/P900 the apps have a form of autocompleting so not as good jumping between apps.
Main benefit of Psion is proper keyboard.
Buy P900 & keep 5mx

Thanx for the replys guys.
The main 2 appz i use and are concerned with are word/agenda...along with spell. The revo is had the same interface as the 5mx, so revo users can make just judgments also

Could you explain this at all?
I like the keyboard also, but i read a post about getting one of those fold away ones. ala
http://www.ultimatekeyboard.com/ Aside from this any idea if it takes longer to type on the p900?
Thing is, i really want to move to once device as it's a pain at the moment. If it's anything you remember about the 5mx, is that it's a brilliant machine, but like carrying a brick!

You will need Quickoffice for word processing and spreadsheet, but no spellchecker included at the moment. Pocketop works but not as good as the Psion 5 keyboard. Handy Day good substitute for Psion Agenda.

I find handwritting quicker than keyboard but don't expect it to be anywhere as good/quick as a keyboard.
An example of the multitasking issue:
You create a new note in the jotter application then need to jump to the calc to cut/paste a value into the note. When you jump back to the note it has been autocompleted so you have to open the note again & find the place in the text to paste.
If you don't enter a lot of text then the benefits of P800/P900 are great. There are the keyboard options you mentioned.
PS I have replied to you while stood up In the ASDA shopping with the kids. Try that with a 5mx

Thanx jah for the concice reply
I had a quick look at handy day, and just to help out i'll add:
if there are any other psion users out there that are reading, that aqua calender program i have the link for above is the closest ive seen to the psion agenda in terms of asthetics.

psikey,
Thanx for the reply, - i didn't see it earlyer.
I see, great explination. So basiclly, this autocompleting is like jotter on the psion, - when it closes you have to open it up and find the text as it dosn't default to the *last* input of text, (as an example) That could be annoying.
Since your accessing on the phone, one more quick Q. - Is it possible to get email sent to your phone when you get it but not constantly keep checking it? As im sure every time you acess the net or scan the net, you get charged gprs and is expensive...
OT: I usually keep shopping lists on my 5mx.
