Hi all,

in P800-P900 under control panel, internet accounts, tab other, there is the value:

Preferred mode:

that can be set to:

GSM
GPRS
Automatic

Under GSM the phone is detached from the GPRS network, when a connection is requested, the phone connect to the GPRS.

Under GPRS the phone is permanently connected to the GPRS network. In this case when a GPRS connection takes place telephone calls are not allowed.

Automatic is the default. The phone is connected to the GPRS network, but incoming calls can be received even during a GPRS connection. In this case the data session is paused till the end of the voice call.

Whant I wanted to understand is:

Use of Automatic or GPRS parameter, will use more battery power thant the GSM setting?

it is like being connected to two physical network at the same time?

It's the phone faster (in terms of data reception?)

Please note that on old Nokia 7650 (that had a similar setting) cell information was not available on the phone in the GPRS only setting, so I suspect that using GPRS or auto will cut some part or the radio transnmission band from the cell to the phone.

Any comments welcome...

Best Regards

I think it uses more energy but i keep it on auto. I use gprs all the time 4 wap anyway. It's been discussed here b4 that it would b ideal to keep it on gsm only, this way lesser energy is required. This message was posted from a T610
