Hi Everybody,
I have some problems with my P900 when trying to use certain features provided by Mac OS X 10.3.2
First of all the most important thing works: iSync.
But I am not able to browse my phone directory structure. It is also not possible to use the AddressBook features: Send SMS, Dial Number or reply via SMS.
Are these known problems or do I have perform same additional configuration work?
Hope somybody can help me.
Whish You All A Happy New Year

I have the same setup as you (P900, PowerBook OS X 10.3.2) and have found the same features working and not working as you have. In summary my experience has found that:
* iSync works well (after initial setup confusion);
* Address Book connections do not work - even though it looks connected, any AB functions (Send SMS, Dial Number) have no effect on the phone;
* Sending files to the P900 works fine;
* Browsing the P900 seems to work, but I cannot create directories or see any files. I haven't played with this enough to know if it is a problem or just my setup.
I haven't found any more information on whether Address Book (especially) is meant to work or not. Perhaps a posting to OS X support would help.

Apple's Address Book semi-supports the P900 in that contact-syncing is indeed possible via. iSync, but straight out of the box, that is all. This
MacOSXHints.com hint outlines a simple tweak that you can perform on Address Book to enable call notification, call logging, and dialing. I've performed this tweak myself, it does work, and is a fairly safe and simple procedure.
Despite the menu option becoming available after performing the above tweak, SMS/Text messaging unfortunately does not work due to the P900's handling (or lack thereof) of AT commands over bluetooth.
General File Exchange is very reliable between Mac OS X and the P900 via. Apple's 'Bluetooth File Exchange' (/Applications/Utilities/). You should be able to send and receive files of all types between both devices.
As already pointed out in the above post, directory browsing of the P900 from Mac OS X is limited, but I haven't personally ever had much need to do this anyway, so it's not that much of a deal, if at all. If you *really* need to view/modify any of the P900's system directories, it's just as easy doing it from within the phone anyway via. a 3rd party like SMan or something.
If you want to get maximum usage out of your Mac->P900 Bluetooth pairing, I highly recommend checking out
Salling Clicker and
BluePhoneMenu - both are great apps that work well with the P900.
Salling Clicker will allow you to virtually remote control every aspect of your Mac that you can imagine, iTunes, iDVD, iPhoto, any Apple Scriptable application including stand-alone Applescript applets... anything. You can even use your P900's touch screen and stylus to control your Mac's mouse pointer (this is a very, very neat feature, even if only for novelty value and to impress your friends!).
BluePhoneMenu puts a small icon in your menu bar which will give you incoming call notifications including Caller ID information, call logging, and your P900's signal/battery levels.
Then lastly there's
Romeo, which is similar to Salling Clicker, no where near as feature-rich, but it's free.
I *think* that's all
HTH

Just an after-thought, but Salling Clicker also supports proximity actions too, which in simple terms, means you can configure your Mac/P900 setup to perform certain actions when you walk in and out of Bluetooth range with your phone from the Mac.
For example, you can program Salling Clicker such that once you walk out of your Mac's Bluetooth range, it will automatically sleep/lock/run screensaver etc., and then wake/unlock once you walk back into range. You could even tell iTunes to pause whilst you're out of range, then begin play again when you return.
I haven't played with this feature yet, but the concept is just too cool.

OK - here is a question for any developer types .... P900 doesn't support SMS AT commands over bluetooth apparently; would it be possible to write some sort of interface for those functions? So, for address book / bluephonemenu etc, they could talk to a little application installed on your phone, rather than using the none-existent standard functions.

Are all the above findings (AT command limitations, browsing capability) also applicable to the P910, or have these issues been addressed in the newer version?
