i'm with globe and i'm here in CA, network now is cingular. I've noticed during Xmas and this new year, i've been experiencing some problems with my roaming service! Its frustrating when you cant send a message on important days like xmas and new year! someone should do something about this!
anyone else experienced this?

the problem i think is not entirely with globe.
it has to do with the fluctuations in the connection between your service provider (globe, smart, sun) and the network in the US.
just try sending again after a few minutes, it should be just fine

i think you should also keep in mind that some carriers, especially american ones who are relatively new to sms, are not quite used to the system overloads that occur during the holiday season, especially in places where there are a lot of pinoys!
so just keep trying... however, if you are roaming, also bear in mind that each sms will cost you about P25 or something like that... might be cheaper to buy a local prepaid sim, but you will need an open line phone for that.

Many networks can get problem of traffic overload during special festival or holiday. Some requests can be discarded. So more attempts may be necessary for your important messages.

sigh... well i have a signal now but its to late for that. yep i guess it just shows that they are not ready for an overload. They have 11 months and counting to be ready for next year so that it wont happen again.
actually i do have a local account, its pre paid from cingular. so thats 5 cents per text to the phil and they'll text me back at my globe #

I had it confirmed from Globe's Customer Service Hotline.
There REALLY was a DISRUPTION of GLOBE SERVICES during Christmas 2003 and New Year 2004.
"What A Great Time To Be On Globe..." well, i say they're a lot of shit.
