I have not been able to achieve this yet, maybe it's not possible without lots of space taps, i notice in flip open mode it does not use extra charactors & is a handy inclusion.

New paragraph == linefeed?

If so, tap the # key until you get the linefeed command.

That uses up valuable charactors as i said above, it's not the same.

i posted this before.

what i've done is placed the "return" character in the phones clipboard.
now what i do is when i need to start a new line a just use the paste command.

not the prettiest of ways but it works

yeah sorry - that was a little bit of a hand-waving explaination!

method:

1. open create sms in flip open mode.
2. bring up the qwerty keyboard.
3. press "return"
4. go to edit>select all
5. go to edit>copy
6. close flip.
7. open create sms in flip closed mode
8. press menu button or pull jog dial towards you
9. go to text options>paste
10. your on a new line using one character!!

the "return" character will stay in the clipboard til you overwrite it.

p.s. you can do this with any of the characters only available in flip open mode.

p.p.s i'm drunk so sorry if i've miss understood the question and have just gone off on one!

just thought i'd give credit to fw190

his method works, and it only uses one character - but only works in multitap mode not T9. (press # 4 times - its that big arrow)

i hope that SE will introduce the linefeed/return command in there T9 for the next fw update! in my opinion you should be able to access it by holding # just like all the other special characters. i've also noticed that ' * ' is also missing from the special characters tabe
