> Which is better, Globe or Smart?

Hi to you all! HAPPY NEW YEAR SA MGA DI KO NABATI! I've got a P900 tapos gusto ko na magpa line... Ngaun di ko malaman kung saan? sa Globe ba or sa Smart? Of course I'd like to use all the features of my P900, like WAP and of cors surfing the net thru Opera... So saan ba provider open ang lahat ng mga wapsites? Pati ano provider ba madali makasend and recieve ng MMS? Kasi dati sa Globe nahihirapan talaga ako minsan magsend ng MMS... so wat do u think guys? PAti meron ba sa inyo na taga Pinas na gumagamit ng Opera? How is it working? Thanks!

but if u urself is having a problem with globe then mag smart ka na langh. addict mobile is good.
opera is a good browser, far more than ie and netscape.

and no, you should not experience any problem using opera as ur html browser. latest opera is now compatible with most java scripts and other scripting language na ginagamit sa pag gawa ng web page, even flash is now compatible with the latest opera, i'm not sure kung yung opera for mobile is updated. but i think it is..

Will GLobe open the wapsites sumday? And wat are the reasons why they locking some wapsites? i see no sense in dat case...

anyways... once you are connected to GPRS, you may already start ur opera, and start surfing, that's how easy it is. opera is actually a web browser, not a wap browser (i believe it isn't a wap browser, correct me if i'm wrong) so its sole purpose is for web surfing...
GPRS is charged by all networks here in pinas 0.25 php per kb downloaded/received (but i think it's 0.25php per kb sent and received)
i'm a regular user of GPRS, i spend (errrr.. my dad spends) so much for my GPRS usage... just to give u an idea of how much it will cost you for using GPRS, here:
the first month i had my line (Sun cellular), i used GPRS almost everyday with average time of an hour or so per day (there aint so much things to do with wap so i just ended up downloading tones and pictures, read some adult stories.. haha!).. and then my billing statement came, my usage for GPRS alone was more or less 3 thousand pesos. the succeeding months, my average bill was 2 thousand + inclusive of call charges and text messages, in those months i used GPRS seldom.
so.. if you are planning to use your GPRS in web surfing, that will extremely cost you so much money, because web pages have so many pictures in it, many documents, and other stuffs (and we all know that GPRS is charged per kb downloaded 'as they say' and not per minute), wap on the other hand is cheap because of limited pictures and documents. but if thousands per month for you is easy, then it's up to you.. but don't get me wrong.. hindi sa nananakot ako or what, you just have to monitor your usage. use it if important. with those things in mind, baka maliit lang din naman ang maging bill mo nyan. so.. good luck sa pag gamit ng GPRS!!!
about sa globe, ganito ang history.. they first offered GPRS for free, almost all sites if not entirely all, were accessible, but free downloads of polytones and wallpapers in numerous wap sites alarmed them, so they blocked every wap sites that offered free downloads.. but then other wap masters found a way to redirect their visitors so that their page would still be accessible, so.. globe was left with no option but to block all sites except their own wap site where download of polytone and wallpapers are charged 20php per download(?) and yahoo.com
uhmm.. now.. i hear others saying na there is a paid GPRS access now sa globe, i'm not really sure.. siempre sa paid service, they have to make all sites accessible...
keep these things in mind.. the moderators 'may' soon delete this topic.

i suggest if you want to browse the web to read or view pics. might as well save those pages in P900 so you won't have to pay another download rate when you open the same site again.
Btw, you can use a dial up internet card browsing thru opera also.
I'm still waiting for my P900. Got mine from Suncellular with a line. Paid them already but stocks of p900 hasn't arrived yet. How's the performance so far? Multimedia features wise and all.

yeah this is possible, but no practical.. you'll be paying for the local airtime rates (when you connect to your ISP) + your prepaid internet service..
another way of connecting to the internet is through HSCSD (high-speed circuit switched data) or CSD (circuit switched data).. but this costs more because you are paying the local airtime rate.
MoreOver...
we still can't send/receive mms to/from smart and globe. GPRS is always a 'OK'.

yes you can send mms between globe and smart already, but not sun...
gprs charges are based on kb sent AND received. to reduce costs, you can set your browser (SE browser and/or opera) not to download images, sound and animation, since these are the high volume items. works well if all you want to do is read news, etc, and you can just turn them back on when you want to see an image etc.
best deal is if you get an addict plan so at least you have a consummable amount for sms/mms/data usage.
