Hi, I've been playing with the camera and I'm getting very dark shots, even with changing the indoor/outdoor/automatic settings. So I was wondering, what settings are you using in your preferences (brightness, contrast, etc) to optimize your pictures? Do you use certain settings all the time or change them each time you take a picture?

Also does anyone know what the flicker is for?

Hi.

I just have mine of the high res, and max quality, I use night mode for dark shots, but they are still quite dark, not found a way around that yet.

As for the flicker option if your taking a photo and say for example a PC monitor can be seen you would normally get black bars across the monitor when looking at the photo, the flicker option when on stops this from happening but only for monitors using a refresh rate of 60 or 70 hrz

I'd despute that last comment quite strongly. My mother has a Samsung e700 and I have compared the quality of it with my P900. The camera shots on the e700 are shite in comparison.

As for me, I use it on night mode with the brightness turned all the way up. Seems to produce reasonable shots, but just as he said above, you shouldnt expect it to produce shots like a professional digital camera, nor was it designed to produce pictures like one.

edit: additional: Is it just me or do I detect a few sour grapes from my friend above with regards to the P900? Could it be that being 14 years old and probably being too young to have one of his own he just seems to whinge at all the P900 owners?

yes is true

i think your insane thinking the p900 camera is better than the e700 go in to a dimly lit room and hit night mode on both cameras and wait 30 seconds you will then see the light also the zoom function on the samsung is great so is multi shot p900 should have it

Have to say, though it pains me to say it, that the night mode on the Nokia 6600 is the best I have EVER seen. My mate had one in the pub the other night and when he flicked it onto night mode and left it for about ten seconds, the pictures it took were fantastic, and so bright it looked like daylight!!

So once I put it in night mode, I should wait a bit? Does this help? Someone mentioned the 6600 waiting 10 sec and the P900 waiting 30 seconds... is that how long it takes to load a mode? I had no idea..

Not necessarily 30 seconds mate, it's more like 10 seconds on the P900, but you should definately give it a little time to adjust to the lighting conditions.
