HI ,
I bought a P900 3 weeks ago and it was all going perfectly and i was so proud with it since it had all i needed in one package with an acceptable size and looks ( unlike my other phone XDA II ) .
Until i started to notice a black vertical line cutting the screen in half when i am in the camera mode ... and after i read in one of the posts here in Esato that it is a software problem i decided to upgrade my phone . I went to the nearest SE dealer to have the phone upgraded since it took forever via dial up , and i told them about the cam. problem . After 2 hoours they contacted me and said that the upgrade was successful but the cam. problem remained suggesting that it is a hardware issue and the cam needs replacement . I agreed to pay for the parts and the upgrade and i picked the phone up after an additional one and a half hour . When i recieved it everything was fine . I went back home and i was taking some photos and everything was normal until i used the night mode and changed the brightness and contrast settings when i noticed a BLUE vertical line on the left hand side of the screen... and it shows in video and in saved photos .
What should i do ... since the same dealers told me that it is a faulty sapre part "cam" and that they will replace it , but not the phone and i would have to wait till 22 january since they don't have any left " the one they installed on mine was not just the last but the only one they had " .
what do you think i should do ...?
after all i payed 80$ for changing the color of the line from black to blue !!!

I would suggest it was the dealer's responsibility to fix the problem since they have obviously not done so, despite taking your money.

thank you for your reply ..
I know that it is the dealer's responsibility but they won't replace the phone since it is a "hardware" problem and according to them they are responsible for the part they replaced so i would have to wait until they get the part... But what should i do from now till then ? They don't realise that a customer with a faulty device is very bad for the dealer and the manufacturers' image . And what really worries me is that is it really a hardware problem or could it be a software problem , so could anyone inform me about this please .

You could try software updating your phone from the SE website. Even if you have the latest version, the website says sometimes a re-flash can resolve a problem. I dont get that weird line thing with mine though... Very strange.

when you buy a new phone, and it is broken without you breaking it, then the dealer you bought it from has to replace it or fix it. that's what "warranty" means.
if you step on it, or go swimming with it, then obviously you're at fault. but the line-in-the-camera issue is a known bug, some suggest it's a software fault, others believe it's a hardware fault.
i would take my phone back and demand they exchange it. be persistent, ask for the manager if you need to. don't let them put you off like that.
good luck, hope it works out for you.

you shouldn't have paid them any money at all, new phones come with 12 month warranty! They should've repaired your phone or replaced it for free, look in the back of your user manual and then go and wave it under their noses and demand a new handset

I would have to agree with everyone. I don't even know why you paid the extra $$ to fix it. It should have been done with no charge.
If that was me, I wouldn't even have asked for it to be fixed. I would've asked for a new phone right away. They might not have the parts but they should have extra P900 ready for sale. Ask for the manager and if they still refuse to do anything for you, why not call head office.
Their phone, their problem, they should resolve it. The customers shouldn't suffer.

That was helpful
However, in line with the previous posts, I too think you oughta use your warranty here! The line is obviously not the result of something you did to your phone, so go ahead and get a new one. I hope you still have receipts for the repairs they did as well, as you should have your money back as well. Do not hesitate to complain fiercely both at the service centre and to

directly. You're
entitled to free fixes/replacements when under warranty!
