Those are huge files plp... My MP3 ringtones (< 30s length) are all less then 70kb on average. About 327 encoded in MP3 PRO format now. Even my P800 ringtones were smaller then those files. Those were encoded in .au format. I'm guessing plp are choosing the 'hooks' from the songs as their choice for ringtone. Right? If that's the case their no way the files should have to be that large.

True, true...

I haven't come around to cutting them down more.. that is to re-compress them and selecting mono and lesser bitrates.. but SE does not support MP3 Pro right? So if you MP3 Pro encode it it will only be played as regular mp3 file with the same encoding as if I selected regular mp3 encoding and lowered the bitrates to the same.. MP3 Pro is, as I've understood, nothing more than a way to "better" the actual playing of the file...

Anyways.. I will be compressing my future ringtones at a better rate than I have done with the above...

It plays my files so I'm guessing there are no issues with MP3 Pro format. I see a considerable size difference in file size when I covert a wav file to MP3 Pro format. I have done a comparison between the standard and MP3 PRO format of the exact same file. I don't hear any noticable audio quality differences. With that said, I'm guessing it just crunches it done kinda like what the ogg format does. Actually many MP3 PRO developers compare their files to ogg files and boast that there is no real difference between the two.
