> How to modify the virtual keyboard?
Bookmark topic
Hello to P900 Guru
I am living in Latvia and we have 11 diacretic symbols , which we use in addition to the latin letters.
They are ā, ē, ū, š, ģ, ķ, ļ and sî on plus the same capital.
Is there some program which will allow me to change some of special symbols in English layout of virtual keyboard.
We are using windows 1257 Baltic fonts table
P900 shows all the Latvian letters correctly after synchronizing with Outlook, or visaiting the websites. I can not type only in Latvian. In Windows it works like you press the similar latin letter together with right Alt key.
Thank you in advance

it's not possible unless you manage to convince sony-support to release the source code of the virtual keyboard. then it would be more or less easy to modify it. but sony will NEVER release the source and will NEVER integrate your wishes into the existing p800/p900 software - unless you are an very very important person. he - you know someone from nokia headquarter

?

ok anyway yeah i think that's a big problem with p900/800
for an example i can download a new virtual keyboard for my pocket pc with all this signs but noooooo not with sony ericsson, i mean is it that hard to integrate some signs? it sounds really stupid considering that you are buying a 1000 dollars phone that doesn't speak your language, but ok i'm fine with english menus and all that but it's stupid that i can't even send an email to my friend in my own language!
wow is it that hard to put in signs like : è, š, ž?
you can even view these signs on a p800 but you can't write them!!

ok, this was a little bit bad thinking. i know there are software companys able to program a virtual keypad - look at
http://www.zicorp.com/ezitap.htm
at least they have the knowledge to program a virtual keyboard. but they have not the will to react to customer-wishes. i mailed them three times to include some simple improvements to the current ezitap software - for example 2 lines of word preview instead of one - but these wishes never got implemented neither i got any response from customer support / a programmer.
just business.. making money with the least possible effort.

Im sure its possible, there are options to install and use other input methods. However finding the people to do it is the issue.
Its not an oversight on SE's part, the symbian OS was out before the P800/P900.
It would be worth asking this at my-symbian.com forums.
They may have some kinda solution.

Thanks to all of you for support and understanding. You see here in Latvia it is not possible to find even the cheapest Nokia without local support, but with SE ........ they are to arrogant to notice the needs and requests of the small markets.
