Just bought my GF this great little phone. I have a P800 myself. She has set the phone up to access her email but when she does the original message on the server is deleted and therefore cannot subsequently be downloaded to our PC. However when I access my email on my P800, the original message remains on the server.

Can the T610 be configured so that when emails are downloaded onto the phone the original message on the server is not deleted???

there is no configuration for that, they should always be left on the server unless you delete them in the phone and then perform a second send and recdeive at which time they are removed from the server

I see! So what you are saying is that if she wants to download the email to the PC after it has been downloaded to the phone, she should make sure it is not deleted off the phone beforehand?

she can delete it from the phone, just don't do the subsequent send and receive.

but yes, simpler not to delete mail you want to have on the pc from the phone
edit: and this applies equally to the way you handle your mail on the p800 too!

That also applies to the p800? really? I hadnt realized that but then again I never delete email off my phone. Just out of interest, do pc email clients intertact with mail servers in a similar way? ie if I download an email onto my pc via outlook, would I then be able to re-download it onto my phone as long as it wasnt deleted and a send and receive instigated on my pc before hand?

I use outlook and it does have a setting to leave the mail on the server so I guess other pc based mail programs may also have such an option

Depends. When I retrieve my ISP email in Outlook or Outlook Express, I am taking it off the server and cannot open it in my webmail later on.

With hotmail though, I can read it in outlook express but as long as do not dlete, I will be able to open those hot-mails in any browser as webmail as well.

in case anyone wants to find that option in outlook go to tools, e-mail accounts, view or change existing email accounts, pick the email account and click change, then more settings, then advanced and you will see the option to "leave a copy of messages on the server"

yes retrieving mail on the T610 works like a charm, i really love it!!!
just don't delete them before downloading on y'r pc.
actually i download only the headers, and if it is an important message
then i download the full 'body'.
i love it man! i hope they will release a update soon where it makes a sound when new email arrives
