> P900 T9 weirdness?
Bookmark topic
Hi guys,
I was wondering if any other P900 users have noticed some weirdness with the T9. I use T9 wherever I can (fastest input method IMHO), and have found some strange things:
x Type "you're" (9-6-8-1-7-3) and the first option is "you.seed", next option "you.reed", etc. It seems that as soon as you hit the 'R' (7), it adds an extra character and makes it 'you.pdf'. Then adding the 3 makes it "seed". To get "You're" you need to delete the extra chars.
x Same principle, type "i'll" and it comes up as "i.jjj". "we'll" comes up as "we.jjjj"
x Pressing a single character, e.g. just 6 for 'O' has a strange extra optino at the bottom of the list of choices. These appear to relate to words I've typed recently. For example, if I press 2, my bottom choice is "Can.t". For 3, it's "Don.t", for 6 it's "Mandy" (a name I recently added to my contacts list), 5 it's "Johnathon" (ditto)
x It never capitalises words after a full stop. I don't know if this is a bug or a (lack of) feature, but I did read someone here saying he'd upgraded his firmware to fix the 'T9 capitalisation bug'?
Has anyone else noticed these, and perhaps knows of a workaround? Or are any fixed in a later firmware build? I have Organiser R1C01 on CDA 162004/3 (Orange). I gather there's a new organiser (RC006?) out, but would have to go to an Orange store to get this flashed - which I'll do if there are any improvements to T9 in it!
Thanks very much
Tom

Thanks - I looked through My Words and deleted some crap ones. This didn't cure it.. but helped me notice what's really going on.
It seems that when typing a word with an apostrope, where there are two characters after the apostrophe - e.g. "you're" - it will enter the secnod character automatically after you enter the first. So to type "you're" I enter "you'r" and it puts the e in for me. The reason I kept getting "you'pdf" or whatever is because I didnt notice it had filled in the e, and typed it myself.
Ok so I guess I can get used to that..(though it's a little weird as the T9 doesn't guess letters anyplace else.) Do you experience the same? If not, which firmware do you have?
With regard to the random words when I hit a single char - it appears that they are from my My Words list. That could be kind of useful, if you could configure a whole word to be an option when you hit just a singel char. Except My Words is sorted alphabetically, so there seems to be no way of configuring which word is on which character, or keeping it on the same character after you enter new words. Oh well!
Thanks
Tom
