After searching this forum and not finding my particular problem, I fiddled about with the email/internet accounts settings and managed to get my Orange P900 to read emails from my PlusNet email account.

Here how:-

1. Use the SonyEricsson email config to send you a sms with the default email setup - it will be wrong but its a start.

2. Modify the above to include the server validation your isp requires to give you access to the server - note NOT to your email - this was specified in step 1.

3. Copy the OrangeGPRS internet settings down (from control panel/Internet accounts) and create a new one call (Whatever), - Here is the important bit - from your ISP find out their DNS IPs - leave all other settings as it was for OrangeGPRS and alter the DNS to your ISP's. - Save the account

4. Select the above account as the one to use in your Messaging account.

Done....
