I've just spent a half hour searching for this but couldn't find what I was looking for so....

I've a vague recollection that I read something here that said that the Orange P900 firmware had various problems, particularly with Bluetooth. I could go to Oxford Street to get my P900 flashed to a non-Orange firmware, but so far everything works ok for me (although I might buy a bluetooth headset or car kit soon). Can anyone tell me what problems would be fixed by flashing to a non-Orange firmware?

Many thanks,

Winty

I can vouch for 4 Orange P900's with no problems, all are early units, it now seems all those rumours were complete rubbish or more likely people not understanding the changed bluetooth setup options on the P900 from the P800.

Sorry to burst your bubbles. Its been confirmed that a short circuit caused by the offending Orange software and the static in peoples hands causes the handset to self detonate. But don't worry, I heard the software update will improve this so you only lose a couple of fingers rather than a whole hand!

Actually thats just twaddle, you might not believe this but I just made it up. The problems I have at the moment are small with my Orange P900. Do you get this? When you (flip closed) press contacts and you want to put in a letter to get the names of the contacts, it puts in a number. If I wait a second after I press contacts, it will put in a letter, any sooner and a number pops up. Also writing, sometimes not so frequently is lines just appear on the screen and ruin the chances of the character I want coming up. Very small problems, I got a motorola bluetooth headset and it works excellent with it. No problems.

Yep, I'm with pachy on this; my P900 works with my HBH-35, HBH-65 and HBH-30, although this last one is a bit flaky maybe because it's old and suffering after several falls. Got more than three hours (continuous) talk time with the HBH-35 today which seems pretty good for a bt headset.

No probs with the bluetooth on my Orange p900, although I'm getting these strange lines across the screen when writing text every so often which screws up the characters. Is this a software issue??

I've got a Vodafone (SIM free effectively) P9 and haven't had any problems with Bluetooth, lines across the screen, and I haven't lost any fingers when the phone explodes either!

I have had problems getting voice-dialling to work with an HBH-35 and a P900, tried 2 different handsets/headsets and neither worked.

Not good!
