Hi,
I bought my T68i a few months ago, and I'm quite happy with it, but I *really* wanted Bluetooth to work. As you probably know, the Bluetooth is blocked for Israeli SIM's in the firmware of the newer models. Although BT is now allowed in Israel, Sony-ericsson is not giving clear answers on this issue (if and when they will fix the firmware of T68i).

Since I spent a lot of money on the phones and on a handsfree set for the car, I want Sony-Ericsson to fix it (it should not be very difficult to remove the SIM block).

I'm gathering a group of T68i owners to sign a petition - if there are enough people that care about it, they will do it. The plan is to:
-Sign the petition to have Sony-Ericsson fix the BT issue
-Send the list to Sony-Ericsson support in Turkey
-Get one of the Cellular magazines to publish a story about this
-Put up a web site that describes the issue
-Send a chain-email to many people, to raise awareness

If you are an Israeli with a SE T68i, and would like to sign this petition, please send email to wjlost@yahoo.com with the following info:
-your name (first and last)
-your phone number

If you know more people that may be interested, please tell them, or send me their email.

Thanks!
Reuven

Have you stopped for a second and thought if this maybe goes deeper than your car kit, like for example, the Israeli military?! I very much doubt it's SE, I assume there are some serious security implications to the BT interdiction. This message was posted from a T310

You're correct about the original intent, however - the ban on the BT frequencies in Israel was lifted on Nov. 1 2003, and the only company that is not providing good support is Sony-Ericsson.

Forgot to welcome you on Esato, mate! Have you tried using a SIM issued after the ban was lifted just to make sure? And if you bought the phone from official channels you might have a chance at demanding a refund. This message was posted from a T310

Thanks...
Actually it's a well known problem in Israel. Sony Ericsson was one of the only manfacturers to run along and block BT access in their models, based on the origin of the SIM card. Israeli SIM cards will not work in most T68i's and I think in all T610's.

I think it's a really simple matter for them to fix it, but they are not planning to do anything - why should they invest their time in old-timers using T68i, when they can get them to spend more money on the new models?

It is especially infuriating since the premise of a TriBand "world" phone is that it can be used *anywhere*, yet in some places (like Israel) the BT does not work (and that's the primary reason I bought the phone - it was one of the cheapest BT phones recently).

I bought it through Expansys U.S., I was happy with their service, but I don't think they'll give me a refund...

Hi all. New to this board

I sold my old T68i to my boss who visits Israel occasionally. He is going to want to buy a sim card there and use this phone. I have disabled the bluetooth in his phone.

Is he going to have a problem using this phone there?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

The problem is that SE programmed their phones the way when you put Israel SIm card in phone , BT is locked . - so the problem is in Flash - which you must upgrade . if u will put in israel sim card of foreing provider - BT will work .
