the update service hangs on "Checking the installation of Sony Ericsson Update Service" and does nuffing
can any body help, i have all the correct things, all up to date!!!!

i got the same problem with you , before i use the Opera,
so you download and use it , can update the p900!!

It’s not an IE issue per se. It’s how your browser settings are set up. So I wouldn’t say you “must” use Opera as the other poster suggested. Mine fortunately didn’t need any adjustments and I got it to run smoothly. If you want to understand why you were getting those issues do some research on how java scripts affects how you browse certain websites.

im quite up to date on my I E knowledge, even trying to add the web address to the trusted sites section, lowering my security for cookies and allowing java scripts etc. only because i noticed the privacy alert in explorer when accessing the update page through a direct favorite. accessing through the S E website seemed to cure the privacy alert but still hung at that stage.... very weird! might try opera as i like it on the p900/800. thanks
just thought of summink. does the update service require JVM (java virtual machine)??? :l
