Using Veto you can make money from the adverts you receive by text message without ever having to read or delete the message

I've done a quick search and found loads of places where you can register your details to get paid to receive text message adverts. If you use Veto to automatically delete these messages you'll never be bothered by them and you still get paid!

I'm going to try it out and will let you know how much money (if any!) I actually make. Anyone interested in joining a pyramid scheme to increase the money we make?

@Chucky

Just a note to remind you that pyramid schemes are illegal in the UK (and I'm sure many other countries).

I've done a few calculations and we don't actually make ANY more money be referrals, so the easiest way to do this is just to do a search on Google (I'm making a list of companies at the moment) get Veto and subscribe!
Easy as that!

@TooMuch
It's not actually a Pyramid scheme, it was a bad way to describe it really. The idea was that you refer other people and the group makes more money, but in practice it makes no real difference so the referrals aren't worth bothering with anyway.

@MEEUW
The only people who have your number are the SMS sites, and all the ones I've seen claim not to give them out. The point is that you'll never actually see the messages anyway... so it doesn't really matter

This will work if all the adverts come from the same number (or a small list of numbers) or have a similarity that you can use to block them. If they come from random numbers and are all different you are pretty much screwed.

If I understood the VETO program description it simply blocks any text messages from people NOT in your contact database

@chuky_egg

Do you plan to get rich with this?
There are loads of schemes like this. You get adverts and get paid for it. Back in 97 there were lots of advertising bars that you'd install on your PC and get money for it...

Never got a penny

I didn't realise that, thank you for the clarification. That's not a very clever program, is it now? What about when somebody changes his number and texts all his friends with the new one? Not sure I like it ...

@Kruback
No, I don't think anyone will get rich out of it!
If I can subscribe to enough of these services to make £7/month it will pay my GPRS bill. That would be nice, but until I try I don't know how many messages I will get... We'll see!

@Angelos
That was exactly the example I thought of as well. Coming out in January (they say) is the next version of Veto which has a Blacklist option - only reject SMS from these numbers. That's more like it!
