while I should prob let him explain himself it does sound like he wants to add more EMS images (animations etc presumably) to the default ones in the P900 and has attempted to do so by dumping a file in a folder on the P900

However I haven't seen anywhere that will let you specificy a location for opening these while creating a text message so I thing he might be out of luck

Sorry, someone has told me that within sms messages you have the smiley faces and emotions, but you can add more of these (*.gif files). I was told if you add a ems folder to the above directory then you should be able to see you *.gif files and use them in the message.

At the moment there emotions on the p900 like confusion and angry.

yes, you seem to be correct. I have search here and at my-symbian and it is mentioned alot but I am still looking for a thread where someone actually made it work...

This one at my-symbian looks like the most promising thread on this subject

okay, heres my response from findings on my p800

if you goto edit > insert object when composing a message, you can select picture, and theres a new button on the screen. This lets you draw simple, 2 colour images to put in ems messages.

When you save the image, it creates the folder c:\documents\media files\images\ems

Using fileman to navigate to this folder, there the picture that you created. in .bmp format, and i presume 2 colour.

as far as i know, you cant insert new smilies, or animations, just simple 2colour bmp images, and new melodies!

1- you can't add more smileys. They are presented by the phone on receipt not the sender. i.e. each graphic is send as basic text smiley and the phone will interpret this and present it's graphic.

2- you can add more EMS pictures. You can either create them yourself and they are automatically saved or create a folder called EMS in internal/images if it is not there already. Then drag your ems picture files into this folder. They need to be two colour .bmp files 32x32 in size. 'Homemade' files use more of the text message than the ones preconfigured, due to the fact that with preconfigured EMS they are sent as codes-much in the same way as smileys. With homemade EMS you actually send the image as 'data' to the other EMS phone. You can receive and save Nokia images but you can't send them on.
