Hi all,

I found on www.my-symbian.com a freeware NTP client utility.

This software after the installation on a PX00 let the user to connect and synch the local phone clock with an Internet NTP server, using an axisting GPRS or GSM connection.

It works very well on both my P800 and P900.

I want to promote this software to all the users of this board, because I think this is a great utility, since the P800/P900 missing the clock sinchronization function from the provider network.

Please give it a try and let me know your opinion.

Regards

it doesn't work on my P900. Downloaded a SIS file that wouldn't install using the SE Installer, so I BT'd it over. No such luck, it was recognised as a web page that went back to creating another SIS file. Could be just me...

I follow these steps to install it:

I use IRDA from windows XP. After the transfer the file was in the beamed folder. open it and it asket to be installed, no other options.

it workerd onto p800 and p900 UK english language.

Why don't you try to install it from the cradle?

Regards

On my phone it installed and started fine, but it times out when it tries to sync the time. Doesn't seem to be a place in it where you can change time server to use either unfortually.
(Don't think its my subscription since I can ssh with the phone and check/send email and surf real webpages w/o problems).
I guess I'll wait untill an updated version is out where you can choose server to sync with or untill I code one my self with that option

I don't think you need to change the server: if it works for us, it must work for you too!
I also didn't successfully contact the server when I started ntpclient the first time, but it was because I selected the wrong connection type: infact, I selected the connection I use for email, in place for that one I use for web browsing.

Actually I don't know the differences between the two types of config, as I received instructions by email, and I applied them to my phone... Anyway, if you try the different connection config's you have, you should eventually get ntpclient work.
