I kind of wish i had one of those huge lamps that you shine up at the sky like in batman but instead of a bat logo it has the sman logo so then droll and ajack know you need help. anyways..
My ignore harakiri function doesnt ignore the OS harakiri request. Sman is shutting down constantly. Why? (p900)

make sure you have installed Sman 1.2c ! If you have this version uninstall it and then install again. If still does'nt work is not the Sman problem...is the phone!
For me works ok(p800).

Ok, you got my attention... what seems to be the problem?

This is something P900 users seem to complain a lot about. With additional ROM and extra big external memory, the fact remains that the P900 still has a running RAM of 16MB. On a P800, I get about 7MB free space and on most P900 users that I have seen so far, they seem to have only about 3MB free ram to run their applications.

What is the OS to do when an app needs more RAM, ask it to quit (harakiri). However, in P900 models, I believe (I may be wrong here) it could also just throw the application out (the same way SMan use to remove apps in SMan v1.0) from the OS without any proper clean-ups.

So, on a P900, with less RAM and an OS that removes apps from memory, you get programs are removed without users permission.
And even an "ignore harakiri" won't help.

One reason why I won't get a P900 just yet, the next smartphone from SE needs to have more running RAM before I invest in it.

For those who doubt using Sman,or don't get the idea how it works.
and specially for P900 users who are in doubt.
With P900 I use Sman.
Untill now (since 10 day's it works really fine)I have installed about 6 programs extra , and still having 7mb free ram.Thanks to the "flushed" system or the "flipclosed" system. I am very pleased with this program,and if it wasn't for free I would surely buy it.
It helps a lot. You know it's the same like all the windows versions:you use a program and another one .....and when you shutdown the programs you used, they are kept being "ready" if you should need them again.This is a "service" from the OS.But in all windows versions you will see this "service" will cost a lot of systempower. At the end of the evening you have finished work,and everything seems to be shutted down, you work at almost 60 % of the power. If you restart you PC goes up again to 90 or 95%.
There have been thousands of pages written about "this windows service" With symbian I guess it's the same. Nothings perfect !
That's why Sman is that good, if you use your phone frequently, you can't do it without it.
But what it like to say , with a good install and good settings it works perfect !!
And I pretend to know something about OS.
I am a ICT worker.For what it's worth
Greetings
lucpool

yes,

It can be done. You can replace the AIF file with one from an older version of sman.

I hope that the dynamic duo release a version of it with underwear...

@all:

hehehehe... guys... the SMan icon does not look like an ass until somebody tells you that it is an ass. Most people do not even know that it is an ass, just some funny icon the program uses.

Droll and I are working on the features of v1.3 and it looks like there will be a bit of a rewrite to most of the code (again!).

Don't bug us for details as we are now in the "research" phase to see if the ideas we want are possible, and some we should be able to do coz the "other" programs can do it too.

Ohhh! Before anybody screams, no beta testers too. Not at this moment of time. The freak bit is I am still using a release version of SMan (v1.2c). Usually I have a test copy with things outsiders haven't seen just yet. Ahhh well...

@pimp800:

You think you can do a better SMan icon? No promises to change the existing one, but do feel challanged. If we like it, we'll change it or maybe even make it an alternative .aif file. Again, NO PROMISES.... but go knock yourself out and show me how an SMan icon should look like.

If we use it, I can only promise a mention in the manual, nothing more.

@all:

SMan v1.2 was reviewed by AllAboutSymbian.com and was given the "Mega App" award, a rarely given award and only the fourth to receive it.

I can still bluejack people, but nowadays I have to admit it's getting harder... ahh! those were the days...
