Yes you can record movies with the SX1 but it's very buggy with the current firmware.

There's this game on the SX1 where you have to shoot flies buzzing all over the screen, except they're not all over the screen, they're wherever the camera is pointed! You could have the phone pointing at the TV or something and it looks like the flies are all over the tv screen! It looks fantastic with a great refresh rate.

I'd still never get the phone though as texting would be horrid. Siemens haven't even done a keyboard for it.
