Same here....

Just managed to get Opera working at last the other day, but no luck with email connection to a couple of the ISP accounts.

I tried putting the ISP's email settings things like "mail.btinternet.com" and my BT username/password but won't connect.

I can't see it working anyway for sending cos even on my PC if I log onto another ISP I can check BT email but I can't send as I can't connect to BT's mail server to send unless logged onto BT (They won't allow it) and didn't think many ISP's would allow you to.

That's why I wondered if you had to SEND mail via 02's email server, but recieve mail from another ISP

Like you I am on 02 payg, and if you find the answer I'd love to know.

If you are on O2 and you want to use BT email you need

POP: 194.073.073.090
Smtp: 193.113.160.013

Works everytime.

cheers peanut...........

Well, I've managed 50% sucess tonight.

Using my BT settings from my standard BT isp account fed into my P900 and connecting via the 02wapgrps setup I made in the phone I actually can SEND email now.

It says connected to BT Internet, and it sends fine (even attachments)

But it can't check mail.... it just waits there saying connecting, and the little world icon at the bottom of the screen every now and again has the black flashes either side of it. but nothing happens.

maybe the stmp is right , and the incoming pop3 is wrong.

i got it to send as well.

so i guess the incoming pop3 ip addy is wrong.

I've got a 'similar' problem on my P800 - I can read my mail, but I can't send it!

Make sure you use your account user name (i.e. yourname@XXX.btinternet.com) where xxx could be ab3 or something; don't just use your username from your email address (the 'yourname' in the previous example).

I use mail.btinternet.com as both incoming and outgoing servers.

What setting do you have for:

Connection type (mine's POP3)
Use SMTP authentication (I've got mine ticked)
Secure connection (mine's not ticked)
Use MIME encoding (also not ticked)
Secure password authentication (not ticked)

You wont be able to send through the BTO servers unless you use a BTO connection (i.e setup a normal Pay as You go connection to use wap by).

Try using mail.btclick.com or mail.btconnect.com as the out going and see if that gives you any joy.
Sometimes they work... sometimes they don't.
If not... try finding a free SMTP server.

.. or you could just set SMTP (if you are on 02).. to smtp.o2.co.uk
