I read that it is possible somehow. But you would only be hearing it in one ear! the reason that there aren't any stereo bluetooth headsets is because the bandwidth bluetooth uses is not enough to send stereo music. It could work if there were an mp3 decoder inside the headset and the phone (p800) would be able to send this stream. But no manufacturer made such a product yet to my knowledge.

rubbish, 64kb/s WMA and 128kb/s MP3 is perfectly good quality and bluetooth can easily transport data at this speed.

er...not rubbish actually. MP3 is a compressed file format which has to be decoded, at which point it takes far more bandwidth. The only way to do this via BT is to decode the stream at the headset, as the previous poster clearly said.

Actually there are a couple of stereo BT headsets coming on to the market soon with mp3 decoders built in, but they use a new BT profile so we'll have to wait and see which handsets will support them.

indeed, and I had not read the orginal message correctly!

I read the orignal message to somehow mean that bluetooth could not transmit 128kb/s which of course it can easily do this.

As for devices that will stream data, it is a mandatory requirement that the streaming device must convert to SBC compressed format (defined in Bluetooth AVDTP document) when a stereo headset does not support WMA/MP3 .. so you will always find that stereo device will work with each other.

But you can play mp3 on a mono bluetooth headset.Has anyone with a P800/900 tried to. I wonder because if I go to example Voice dialling - Edit names and press the button on the headset I get a constant connection to the telephone.on a T610 its only use is to listen to recordings (which sound much better than on the phone speaker) and record voice tags but I wonder if it works with mp3's on a P800/900. I've got a Jabra 200. [ This Message was edited by: shug on 2004-01-30 15:33 ]

P800 in Canterbury Posts: 5

I have just purchased a Sony HBH-35 Bluetooth headset and am very dissapointed I can't listen to my Mp3's on my P800 with it! You can plug the headphones into the P800 and listen to the music so if it can transfer voice / calls to the headset why not MP3's - someone PLEASE tell me someone has some P800 software that can do it!!!????

Regards

read the product specs - not possible. no way no how. I own 9 SE/Ericsson BT headsets to know it hasn't been capable or is not currently capable. Wait for a 3rd part stereo BT headset (Q2-Q3).
