Does anybody have any idea why my P800 is doing this, I woke up one morning and all of a sudden the green service light is constantly on now. I am out of warranty so just wondering if anybody knows a quick resolution to this.

Please, please don't post telling me to get a P900.

Well it could be a battery fault, as you "should" be well aware the lights stay constantly on when charging, so either try a different battery or check for extreme amounts of dirt/grease around the conectors (where charger plugs in), or eeven the battery contacts themselves.

Thanks, I have tried a different battery and it did not solve the problem. I have also noticed that now I cannot connect via the USB cradle to PC Suite.

I have established it as a problem with the charger socket on the bottom of the phone.

Does anybody know if this part is soldered to the circuits or if I could just pull it out and replace it?

Thanks

Clean it with a cotton bud dipped in meths (with battery out & dry with hair dryer well before replacing battery).

Do you mean clean the whole black charger/sync station with meths on a cotton bud because i have cleaned this part and can see absolutely no dirt now yet the problem remains.

Cheers for the reply though

Seems you have a service center repair situation, one carefull blast on the phone contacts with a bicycle pump up close would be my last resort before taking it for repair

The reason for this is that human hair (conductive & often found inside phones) can create a short accross contacts.

Its a tiny chance but you gotta try everything.

My phone has the same problem, although mine began the morning after dropping my p8 in a very deep puddle whilst in a drunken state.
