My joystick count has got to 99,999,999 and has stopped going up

This phone was announced on Cebit 2001. It was out for sale around July-August at an extremely high price. Lets assume that you bought that phone when it was first introduced. That means that the phone is 30 months old? Correct? (I am talking about the worst case of having the longest possible).
Now you claim that you have these joystic moves: 99,999,999.
Divide that number by 30 and you have 3,333,333 moves per month.
Or 111,111 per day -> 4,630 per hour -> 77 per minute.
That means more than one click per second for 30 months non stock 24/7 no sleep, no eat, no shit.
I now hope you understand that what you said is BS and don't expect us to believe that the counter stopped at that number. It is just a firmware problem for sure. Or it could be a nice photoshop job just to make impression...

even though this is a fake, one of my mates had a t28 whose flip counter was on like 27billion
so that
was a software bug
