I was hoping that someone could comment/compare the US reception of the T630 with T39m, T68i or T610.

I keep nurturing a desperate hope that Ericsson will one day produce a phone that is even half as good as my dying T39m.... I've tried both T68i and T610 and had to return them to the store because the reception was soo poor. Could T630 be the one?

Seriously, I'd pay any price, switch to any provider, even strangle a puppy just to get a T39 size phone with good reception and bluetooth....

Note: this is US ONLY. Whether the reception is good in europe is not relevant. Trust me. I speak from experience.

I've used the T68m(i) in the US and I know what you are talking about. I just bought a T630 in Europe and I'll be in the US in ten days. I'll be able to tell you then, if the T630 has improvements over the T68m(i)

Surely and correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought that the reception had more to do with ur network provider, rather than the fone? This message was posted from a T610

@mkush: these 2 requirements meet right in the midlde. If u have a good coverange and the phone is bad, it`ll keep on droping the signal;or the other way around...u get my point

I know what you're talking about guys - I would never give up on my T39. Wasn't aware it performed so well on 1900, though...

slamEVIL, the desert coverage is probably not representative. As most GSM users in the US I can only use the 1900 band (I live in LA), and the 1900 is a long range/weak penetration band - perfekt for the desert, but poor for buildings.

Regarding the T616 vs. T39 though - next time you go into the desert, try bringing a T39 with you. You'll find that in the same spot, with the same GSM chip, you'l get a lot better coverage with the T39.

mkush: yes of course, but after you've made sure to have the best provider you still occaisonally need a good phone as well. In my case i've tried all the above phones in the same place, with the same chip. With the T39 I get about 2/5 coverage, with t68i I couldn't get even a signal, and T616 about 1/5 - not enough to actually carry out a conversation.

so you see - I can't accept anything less than a T39 if i want to use the phone in my own apartment.

GSM1: the z600 is one of my reasons to be optimistic about the T630. I've heard it is uite good, and if only they keep the T630 as good as the z600 it should be a good phone. My fear is that they've simply put the T616 in a new shell.... I won't get the z600, though - clam shells are not for me.

UPDATE:

apparently my question has been answered on mobileburn:

According to SE USA, the T630 is another piece of crap.

Gaaaaaaaah
