Hi, I love SE products, but the P900 even though it is a great piece of kit, has so many problems. My Palm Tungsten and an old T68i never had this many. So I have listed some of the problems that I have found while using my P900.

This is to help people considering purchasing a P900, or for others (myself included) to learn about new other problems. Maybe if we all list our p900 problems here, we may find out how to solve them.

Please only list problems on here, that have either not been resolved by SE (firmware or hardware replacement) or problems that you have no idea how to remedy. Please refrain from just saying SE will fix this in a firmware update.

As all the following problems are with my Sony P900, with the latest Firmware.

1) White Screening! --- > OK so P900 doesnt give you that awful 10 second triangle that the P800 did, but White screening instead!
2)Contacts increase in size all by themselves, this decreases available memory you can use! I know you can compress and fix this or use SMAN, but this problem should simply not exsist.
3) Numerous Bluetooth problems, these also existed on my P800, and now on the P900 too.
4)When receiving a file via bluetooth, it doesnt allow you to select where you want to copy it and automatically uses internal memory, I want to be able to select my 128MS DUO for this, but cant.
5) Same crappy camera!
6) Contacts that you have randomly dissapear but are in fact still on the phone somewhere but hidden, no idea how to access these hidden contacts. They show up again in caller id when someon rings you, the name comes up. But when you look in contacts its not there! (& its not on the SIM contacts either before someone says that)

Well... I still even with these problems use the P900, but I would prefer if Sony ditched the Symbian OS.. or sorted out the problems. Before the next release.

Or better still why dont SONY use PALM OS, like they do on the CLIE handhelds. Now that would be nice.

Your thoughts folks please.

Have you used Palm OS? I have a Clie and it does crash and asks for resets. They have these apps called "hacks" that really mess-up the OS. Also, the memory management is very poor - there are so many apps that you cannot install on the memory stick. No Opera, no good WAP app and very few SMS apps (these are not standard on the Clie that I have). Palm is not bug free, PlamOne have released patches for the T3 just a few weeks after release of the product. The most reliable PDA I have ever had was a Psion 5 running EPOC - crashed once in about 8 months use.

Regarding P900 problems that you mentioned. I have had a problem with BT but it is not as bad as having to reset my Clie (hard reset) and losing all my data! Never had any problems with Contacts and as I install all my apps on the Duo I have 12mb of space on the c: drive therefore a small increase of 100kbytes in Contacts is not the end of the world. Only had the "white screen" when using buggy third party apps.

Here is a quote from a Palm user from a Palm forum at Daily Gadget

"please tell me they are coming out with a palm desktop which doesn't fry ADSL momdems.... current palm desktop or the sync cradle which came with my palm is causing me no end of troubles by already frying my ADSL modem , i can't syncronise it while i have a modem in and if the cradles in at the same time as a modem it causes the modem to go in a spaz and a reset is needed"

Now this is what I call a problem!
