i just a new sony ericsson t226 and didn't pay for internet on the phone. I wanted to get the data cable and transfer images and ringtones from the pc to the phone. do i need to have internet on the phone? do i need special software to do this? i dont care about phonebook or address book, just transfering ringtones and images.

You don't need internet. Just cable and software.

You can use cable to transfer stuff from PC to T226 (but not from phone back to PC). You can get the original cable from SE, about US$35 - 55. You can also buy aftermarket cables, the USB version for T610 or 630, or serial version for T39, 68, etc. As long as it's a cable for a recent model (do NOT get the T28 cable), then it's fine.
If it is a USB cable, make sure it comes with a software driver.

Why don't I want a T28 cable? I just recently got a T237 and have successfully uploaded pictures with the T28 cable but can't get the phone to be recognized by float's FPM, what other softwares could I try. I just want to upload ringtones
Also, if it is the cable that is the problem, if I were to buy a USB cable that's listed to work with a T226 will it work for my T237 or what cable should I get? Thanks!

I am having difficulties with finding the software. The Christerson.org site stated you need some software from Ericsson that isn't offered for the t237. Where should I go next?
