I bought a p900 originally made for Hong Kong. Unfortunately the text input and jot handwriting recognition is in chinese. Is there anyway to make this phone an "English" phone with text input and handwriting recognition both in english. The language can be switched to UK English for the menus and so forth, but there are no other text input languages installed that I can switch to in the control panel. Sony Ericsson was no help, as they CSR I spoke to said it could not be done. But maybe someone knows how to install such software on this forum!?

BTW i found a tip how to install chinese fonts and text input on an english phone at this website: http://renegade.w3xs.com/index.html
Go to the tips & tricks link on the sidebar and you can get to it. I don't know if this helps.

Well i at least figured out how to get handwriting recognition in English:

1.   click on control panel
2.  select  item  7...  which is  "  text  input  "
3.   you will see   "  primary input  method  "....   then  select  "  chinese handwriting ".....  don't choose "none"
4.   then  click on   done
5.     go  back  to  the main  screen,    select  "messages"
6.      choose   create   "SMS"
7.        wait  a  few  second
8.    you will  see  there  are  3  arrows at  the  bottom right hand  side  of the screen
9     click  on  the  3  arrows
10.     you  will  see   a   chinese character  on  the  bottom left  hand  side  of  the screen,
11..   click on that  chinese character...   then  you can write english

There is still the minor inconvenience of having to select the "three arrows" and click on the chinese character, but it works. I did use a standard english version before i got this phone and i felt that the handwriting recognition was better. Anyone have any comments on this? As far as getting a phone without any chinese, i am still looking into this. I was told in another post that by taking it to a Sony Ericsson service center they would be able to flash the phone with original firmware. But i don't know where one of these is in the US.
