The guide says it supports audio MP3s compressed using Fraunhofer IIS* technology or LAME. Well this really is lame cos it doesn't play 99% of my MP3s. It says Musicmatch Jukebox is one of the MP3 encoders that uses this technology, but MP3s I've made using Musicmatch don't work either. Who designed this? Aren't MP3s supposed to be a universal standard? I sold my P800 to get a Z600 and HBM30 cos the P800 was too big, but at least is played any type of MP3 - and it's a year older than the HBM30, what kind of regression is that? Has anyone got this "player" to work yet? I just spent Ģ170 on this and it sucks so far.

I canīt play mp3 files from the memory stick included with HBM-30, but I can play ATRAC3 recorded from the device. And when I use another memory stick I have it works playing every MP3. It seems to be something wrong with the memory stick I got with the HBM-30

Did you try to format it? That usually helps. Always do it in the player! Never with windows. This message was posted from a T68i

Map? You mean Folder?

OK, I'm making progress with the player. It works with Real player converted MP3s at 96kb/s or above and Musicmatch at 128kb/s. The battery supplied is rubbish, gave me only about an hour of playback, but shop-bought batteries perform a lot better.

I'm having a few problems with the playback order. I've put stuff in, even doing it one by one so the albums are in the right order, but it still seems to re-number the tracks which is a pain.

I think that the track order is governed by the text file that it creates with the songs in that order, you may want to try editing that file to change the order (back it up to your pC 1st) of course.

I have not come accross the bit rate issue yet but I will test further, all my current MP3's are at least 128bit, normally 196bit.

My only issue is with batterey life with a standard so called High power AAA batt I only get a couple of hours playback

I have a Sony memory stick reader/writer (MSAC-US30) that supports magicgate and I now use sonicstage to tranfer ATRAC3-files instead of MP3 files, which takes less space.
