Hello all,

As @masseur had suggested the usage of free email provider softhome.net on T610 handset, i had got "unable to find server" errors last few days.
To my dismay i later found out that i was using the GPRS WAP profile instead of using the GPRS internet profile.

On my T610 this GPRS internet profile will take some time (1-2 minutes ) to query the server for its availability (which hangs sometimes). I hope its alright bearing in mind that accessing via a handset always introduces delays.

All in all , softhome.net is a fast and reliable email service for mobile users.
Thanks to @masseur for digging out its info.

Cheers,
Jade.

I wish I could take credit for this but I don't recall mentioning softhome.net and a quick search of my posts doesn't show that I ever did. perhaps someone in a thread I was replying to mentioned it and you got a little mixed up with usernames?

anyway, you seem happy regardless so thats a good result!

I'm really sorry @masseur,

it was @neil-t68i whos post i saw and started to play around with the softhome email account.

So, credit goes to neil-t68i .

I'm just putting his reference too here.. i took almost 15 minutes to unearth this out.

If you visit http://www.softhome.net and register for a free web email account then you can use the true email on your phone.

incoming port - 110
Mailbox - xxxxxxxx (Your username)

Outgoing server - mail.softhome.net
outgoing Port - 2500 or 25000

It is much better to use this service as you can send and receive large emails and send pictures. You are not online all the time, only during send and receive, then it disconnects. The T-mobile email in the UK cost 10p for every message you send and every message you receive, you can only send them as an SMS so you are restricted to 160 characters. This includes the email address and the subject. Imagine someone sending you a large email through this. It gets very expensive.

Let me know how you get on.
