Can anyone recommend any (preferably free) software for somehow blocking spam emails? I use an orange.net email account and never used to get any spam until about a year ago. Now, even though I've not subscribed to any dodgy websites, I seem to be deluged with it.

I generally don't use Outlook on my home PC and just send and read my emails from the Orange website so I'm not sure if there's much I can do. Orange has their own filter but all it does is move blocked emails into the deleted folder. What I really want to to is stop them before they get that far.

I realise I could use a new email address but all my friends and contacts have this one and I'm loathe to change it.

Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but I've already looked there. What I'm really after is recommendations of actual packages that people have used, or suggestions on how to remove my name from these lists.

Removing you name from the lists is pretty easy - just spen a smal amount of time unsubscribing from them and they will stop. I do it all the time. And i get less spam than anyone i know.

Spam Blocker is a good program...

I was under the impression that the 'click here to unsubscribe' buttons did nothing more than prove you had a valid email address, therefore opening you up to yet more spam.

A small minority of them are, most spam comes from legitimate companies that bought a mailing list - therefore removing yourself does prevent it. I know a lot of people will tell you not to but i do it on my computer and it works fine, i have gone from 20 - 30 spam emails a day now down to 2 or 3.
