Some of you may have read my thread about getting rid of the operator branded firmware in the P900 and installing a clean SE firmware via the SE online updating service (homeflash) on my-symbian.com.

It worked on my P900 and from now on I'm able to upload the latest SE firmware - no waiting for the operator to rebrand the firmware before it's made available for my CDA revision.

I receive a *lot* of emails from people who want to unbrand their P900 too. It's a bit time consuming answering all the mails - I'd prefer a public forum. My question is: will a discussion about doing some funky stuff with the P900 be allowed on esato? The mods freaked out on my-symbian.com.

I'm not a lawyer. I don't now how legal or illegal it is to flash my own phone with another firmware. I think from a moral point of view it's quite legal

I have no idea of the legality or not, but would just like to say that I would dearly love to know how to do this. I am still waiting for Orange (CDA 162004/3) to get off their backsides and make a new firmware upgrade available.

So if you would make this discussion public, that would really help me. Or if it's ok to be another one to email or PM you to ask how, please let me know, I'd really appreciate it

I'm on 162004/8 (Vodafone UK) and am almost certain that I won't see a firmware upgrade before the P1000 comes out...

Would highly appreciate any details on how to do it. If you can't post it here, try http://groups.msn.com/P900

Cheers

Does anybody know a forum that's open for this kind of discussion? No surprises?
