Hello T610 users,
Could anyone let me know the batterlife of this Li-Po battery?.
Somehow the tech-specs given regarding the battery of t610 in SE website are not accurate.
For instance, my T610 is 40 days old. and when i fully charge it in the night, the charge level goes 20-30 % low at the end of next day ( received 2-3 calls, sent 5-10 sms's, changed themes 2-3 times).
Is this normal?. I do guess the LCD display takes most of the charge..
Is that so?.
Is it any harm in continuously connecting the handset to the charger even tho its fully charged?.
SE users manual doesnt give the workarounds or tips for battery maintenance apart from the standard ones..

.
Please anyone give me some practical answers?.
Thanks
Jade.

From my experience, if your unit and battery are not defective you should not need to worry about your charging cycle. The battery
is not that sensitive to your charging cycles as old Ni batteries
on old phones.
It is true that the Li performance will increase after a couple of recharges and it is true that the performance may degrade if you
leave the battery uncharged for a long time (e.g. 1 year or so).
The performance will also slightly degrade after a long time of
usage (perhaps after 1000 charges or so).
All other changes you experience with your battery is more likely due to environmental changes (temerature, signal strength, usage pattern etc.) or due to a defecive unit/battery.
I myself do not have a T610, but I have a Nokia 8850 and a Palm V, which both use a Li-Ion battery instead of Li-Pol. From a performance point of view there is no difference between Li-Pol and Li-Ion to my knowledge.
I have had those units for three years now and has not seen any degrade in the battery performance yet. I charge the Nokia approx.
once a week and the palm twice a month, sometimes when the batteries are empty and sometimes when the batteries are half
full or almost full. I charge them mostly over the night i.e. they
are charged much longer than required.
And as I said, I have still not noticed any change in the battery performance of my units.

Thanks @Arne Anka for your detailed reply.
What i am worried about is the amount of power consumed by this T610 in a single day even when its fully charged.
I had earlier Nokia 8210 and 5210 i guess their batterries are Li-Ion and their life is so superb that once i charge my 5210 it would stay completely charged (power indicator full) fr atleast 2 days and more.
But T610 shows a 20% drop after i did those operations i described in the earlier post.
And also, i need to know if there is any harm done to the T610 if its continuously connected the charger which is turned ON..??
Thanks,
Jade.

If you use gprs a lot it user more battery. My 310 lasts hardly a day because of wap usage, mms etc

Go to Accessories section and see the sticky about the battery issues. It'll answer all the questions.

Thanks T710. The sticky note is really good barring those tank u's.
By the way, you and orang3 havent still answered my "constant charging hazards if any" queries in tht note.
What i mean is, simple: if i plug in my T610 to the charger powered on whenever i dunt use my fone, say continuously for hours together, even when the battery is full, will the battery life increase or decrease or will have some hazardous effect?.
And,
could anyone please tell me how to find out the standby time of a T610 with any software?? fmA gives some nice graphs but i cant make out anything out of it.. it says some charging counts.. does it have any significance? and also the red graph of the charge cycle does signify something

. which i somehow cant make out properly.

.
Thanks in advance.
Jade.

Why bother charging continuously? Just charge when required :-)

@sony_eric. i was wondering for a technical answer

. Anyways its not so critical. but i was curious to know the aftereffects if any.
cause

should give us the worst case battery performance for a Li-Po battery on T610.
Cheers
Jade.

Well how long your battery lasts?

manufacturers almost always give battery life under ideal conditions (i.e. room temperature, continuous full signal strength, no usage, firm electrical connections). these estimates never apply in the real world. also, a colour screen takes more juice than a b&w.
wrt continuous charging, it probably won't do too much to the phone itself. however, the battery will eventually degrade in performance due to ion migration in the electrolyte. while lithium batteries are more resistant to this effect than the old NiCad batteries (theoretically Li batteries have no "memory effect"), it will still eventually occur - resulting in shorter usage times. there may also be some odd temperature effects, which probably aren't too healthy for either battery or phone.
generally speaking, continuous charging is not recommended.
