It could be used for simple apps, but java makes more sense. The point of mophun is that it runs code in a safe 'sandbox' which doesn't allow programs access to parts of your phone where it can cause a security risk. So you couldn't get a mophun virus for example. This makes it impractical for most apps, but it does offer good capabilities for simple games. Mophun - mobile fun?

I thought "sandbox entertainment" term was used for the java implentation... No socket support, etc...
Also I read somewhere in this forum that there is a test of online gaming over mophun... So, it means that it is open to the net and there can be some programs over the net.. Also bluetooth and infrared can be used too, as in games... Maybe the IR remote in mophun will be out soon... Who knows?

Mophun does support remote connections via wap / IR / BT but the current software development kit contains libraries that are almost completely geared towards gaming functions. That's not to say that it's IMPOSSIBLE to create apps using Mophun, it's just that Java is a much better platform for this.
Don't think there will be a Mophun (or Java) remote control app, because the short IR range of many SE phones would make it largely useless.
