The T39m has pretty good battery life for a new model, but the one I have is about 3 years old and the battery is well past it.
Apart from that the screen is tiny, otherwise, it's a good phone.

The T39m is nice looking, I for my part can't say that about the 6310i.

Unless you need Java, go for the T39. You can use three different types of batteries with very impressive stand-by and talk-times.

I've used both as business phones and I think it's a close call. In the end I think the 6310i is probably the best business phone, mainly because of the clear display, simple and quick menus, larger buttons, the best RF of any phone I've ever had and the phenomenal battery life. You can use this phone heavily with bluetooth switched on permanently and it will last for days, whereas the same use on the T39 will not get 2 days battery life, although to be fair the RF is nearly as good. The build quality on both these phones is rock solid too.
The T39 does have some strong points in it's favour. It's smaller, lighter and, in my opinion, more stylish, and it also has an email client which the 6310i doesn't.
