Hi. i've got loads of pics on my phone and they're just wasting space. i've got a t610.

any pic taken on max resolution in colour is about 50KB (the one i'm working with is 54KB). 288x352 pixels.

i'm trying to reduce them

i copied them to my pc and used photoshop. i changed the image size to 128x164. saved it and sent it to the phone. checked and the new pic which is supposed to be smaller is 56KB. so by halving the number of pixels, i managed to increase the size. what am i doing wrong?

There's some sort of bug in the t610 that doubles or triples the size of pictures sent to the phone. So you can't do anything. As a last resort, try saving it as a gif before sending, That's about the smallest format you can get. This message was posted from a T300

If you don't have at least R3c as firmware you should upgrade . My pictures took up about 50k before I got R3c but now take about 20 - 25k

It's fixed for photos taken with the camera. But any pic sent/downloaded will still have the problem. This message was posted from a T300

yes, thats correct, with R3B (which came out briefly before R3C) and later the pics taken with the cam are much smaller but pics transferred to the phone still take the larger size that they used to pre-R3B

edit: and its still the same on my T630. I just transferred an 8kb pic and it ended up 39kb

I'm sure the phone's software 'uncompresses' the image, as well as creating the thumbnail for the photo, so thats why it takes up more space.
