Hi there everyone! I bought a T68i phone and after about 9 months the battery started acting up until eventually my phone wouldnt turn on anymore. I also noticed that the battery has bulged. I went back to where I bought the phone ( SEMICON Philippines) and was told that my battery was damaged by overcharging and not because of any inherent defect on the phone (which may result in "overcharging of the battery). And since they claim that it was due to "overcharging" (which translates into negligence on the part of the owner), they wouldnt honor the warranty.I couldnt prove that the phone maybe defective so I accepted my misfortune and had to spend some of my hard-earned money to buy a new battery.
This time I became very very careful when charging my battery (no overnight charging, etc). But then after about 8 months my new battery dropped dead on me. Again, the battery was dead and had buldged. I went back again to SEMICON Philippines but they are not open to the possibility that the phone (or charger) maybe defective which causes the battery to overcharge. They claim that T68i's unlike nokia phones are so sensitive that even for about 5 to 10 mins of overcharge may damage your phone!
To me, its either that SEMICON Phil knows a lot of b***s**t, or that T68i's really s**k (which i doubt) coz a phone which gets damaged for getting "overcharged" for just 5 to 10 mins for under 10months use is not practical for any user. Nobody watches their phone so closely during charging that at the exact minute the battery is full you disconnect the charger immediately.
I'd like to bring my phone somewhere else but someone out there may have some useful ideas..Thanks in advance!

Yes, pls read this ( a bit big but it worth it).

Other than this: the over-nite charging WON'T damage ur battery, but daily charge in a period of 8 months can guarantee the depletion of ur battery. In other words, that`s normal! Why do u think it`s warranty is ONE year? U can hang on to this and ask them to prove u u overcharged the battery (and they can't) and clkaim the 1 year warranty.

The crap they feed you is absolute B******t!
Even if that first battery quit because of "age", the new one you bought definitely didn't die because of overcharging.
So either they are selling faulty batteries, or there is something wrong with your charger or electrical company.
edit: BTW: Welcome to esato!

==================================================
PRODUCT RECALL: CST-13 phone charger
Sony Ericsson has identified a fault with one of its UK 3-pin CST-13 phone chargers and, as a precautionary measure, has activated a process to have all potentially failing units returned.
The charger is manufactured in Thailand by Delta, an external supplier, and has the identification number BML 162 099/3 R1A printed on the socket face, along with "made in Thailand by Delta". The charger has been included with the following Sony Ericsson Phone Models: T68i, T300, T310, T610 and a number of Bluetooth handsfree and other Sony Ericsson accessories. The charger has also been sold separately.
There have been a limited number of incidents in the UK, where a pressure build-up in the charger has caused the top plastic part of the charger to brake off, with the danger of hitting someone. If the charger does break apart, the electronics of the charger may be exposed thereby creating a risk of giving a person touching these parts an electric shock. In such circumstance, there could also be a risk of fire, if the charger is in proximity of flammable material.
Consumers who possess this charger should stop using it immediately, remove it from the socket and contact the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre on 0800 587 6072. A free replacement charger will be dispatched, together with a pre-paid envelope for the user to return the charger to Sony Ericsson for inspection.
If you have identified your CST-13 charger as being potentially faulty from the information supplied, click here or please call 0800 587 6072.
At Sony Ericsson, product quality and safety is of the highest priority and we would like to offer our sincere apologies to all customers for any inconvenience caused.
The vital part of that post is "free replacement charger"

Twista, in fact I do have the CST-13, BML162 159/2 R1A, Model GSAC-MN/2. But its not made in Thailand, it says here its made in morroco by ST. Do you think this is still part of the recalled chargers? And is the recall applicable to phones issued in the Philippines?
701, the post was very informative, it just didnt have anything similar to my problem. But still it was very informative. Thanks very mch.

edward, pretty much most of the models in the

range use the CST-13 but your identification number does not match and as I mentioned a min ago, and in the piece that twista pasted in his post, it only affected UK chargers

OK guys, there has been plenty of discussion about the recall. The
only batch of chargers that was affected was a batch of UK 3-pin chargers. The entire batch has been shipped to the UK so unless you purchased your phone from the UK you do not have a charger that was part of the recall. Hope that clarifies it for everybody.
