Hey all,

Are there any decent IMAP email applications for the P800/P900?

The built-in email client is usable but can't handle multiple folders on IMAP servers. The Java-based EmailViewer by Reqwireless is getting there, but doesn't have particularly great views or interface and has quite poor message composition.

Thanks for any ideas!

Pathetic isn't it ? The lack of development of sophisticated PDA quality software for the Px00 (as opposed to the teaser applications like Messages) leaves me with the impression that Sony Ericsson is not serious about developing code themselves or encouraging 3rd party development. Which means that as soon as there is a decent phone-like Windows Mobile/PocketPC I will be leaving the SE/Symbian fold. It is only because I need a phone more than a PDA that I am sticking with the Px00.

Yeah the lack of a *real* imap client is one of the major problems for uiq. Java apps like EmailViewer wont do, it'll have to be a fully integrated replacement for the useless built in client. Atm I don't know of anyone working on this though...

If you have Exchange Server, OWA for PDA is very good.

If you have a UNIX account somewhere then one way to get IMAP email is to use a terminal emulator like Mocha Telnet to log in using ssh or telnet and then start up a text-based mail client like pine.

This works of course but isn't overly comfortable. On the other hand you have the resources of a workstation and all that that implies with regard to being able to download your mail quickly and save attachments. Pine is very configurable too.

Can someone explain the best way to do the equivalent on a Windows machine?

Anyone have a better ssh terminal than Mocha ?
