Does the P900 support anything larger than 128Mb? Will the Duo Pro work?

Sorry if i have missed this in another thread, i can only find the answer for the P800!

Cheers

"My mate knows somebody, who knows somebody who used to live next door to someone who used to work at SE and he says he thinks a 256Mb duo would work...."

I think that's how the next post goes, isn't it?

And then we have a 50-post thread where people argue the toss, and make wild assumptions, until it all dies down again.

Then we wait 1 month for the next "what size memory cards can the Px00 take?" post

;-/

Then someone should make a "sticky" post stating that 128mb is the largest until newer technology comes along. Cos its well annoying hearing the same question each time.

I will add it to the Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style)

This is a semi-related question, don't get mad at me if it's been answered before but I couldn't find it....

I know there is a difference between the Memory Stick Duo and the Pro... but then I noticed in certain listings in Memory Sticks for sale that some are "High Speed". Just wondering, is there really a different Sony brand one that is high speed? And how come some have the "MagicGate" stamp and some don't?

I just want to make sure I get the right one for my p900. Also has anyone tried buying a Lexar or SanDisk brand? Any difference in transfer speed or reliability? Advice would be much appreciated, thanks =)

@jujubee as far as i'm aware, the magicgate is a technology designed to stop piracy, i.e if you transfer from one pc to a memorystick, it has to be the same when transferring back-like a magic gate! hahaha. this technology seems to have fallen by the wayside of late, so it doesn't really seem to be of much relevance anymore.
As for the high speed duos, well, if you use a reader (i.e not the usb cradle that comes with the phone), you will notice files transfer a lot quicker if you use a new type of duo rather than an old one. That said, you probably won't be losing out on much if you find an older one more cheaply, cos let's face it, it's only 128meg. (sigh... I remember my old spectrum zx81 1k wobble pack....)

@Jujubee -

As far as manufacturer reliability you can trust them all... I'm up to 16 128mb DUOs now and I have a stick from every manufacturer that has released one. No issues with any of them at all.
